From plant to garment

   Source

   Wild stinging nettle, harvested from hillsides outside the growing season.

   Fibre

   Stalks are boiled in wood-ash water to loosen the bark, then stripped.

   Thread

   Hand-spun on a simple wooden spindle into a rough two-ply thread.

4. 04

   Cloth

   Woven into a coarse cloth traditionally used for bags and outerwear.

5. 05

   Garment

   Increasingly worked into contemporary pieces alongside wool.
