tessuto began as a simple frustration: traditional clothing sold online almost always arrives stripped of its context — no place, no maker, no material, no story. Just a photo and a price.

We wanted something closer to a textile archive than a store — a place where a garment keeps its origin, its technique and the name of the household or collective who made it, even after it has been bought and worn far from where it was stitched.

The first chapters of this collection come from India, Nepal and Vietnam, because those are the communities we have working relationships with today. The intention is for this to grow slowly, region by region, rather than to expand for its own sake.
